Pocketsize makes pictures smaller. Add PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP or TIFF files and it saves each one several ways — as JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF — measures every version against your original, and keeps the smallest one that still looks right. You never have to take its word for it: the original and the result sit side by side with a slider, a difference view, and a measured visual-match score for every file.
Your pictures never leave your computer. There is no upload, no server and no account — the compression runs on your own device, inside your browser. That is not a promise to take on trust: here is how to check it yourself, in about a minute. It is also why the whole app keeps working with no internet after your first visit, and why you can install it like an app and open images with it straight from your file manager.
It can shrink big photos to a pixel limit you choose, or work to a size cap — "keep this under 200 KB". And if you choose "identical — every pixel kept", that is exactly what happens: the same pixels, never resized, just stored smaller.
If you came with one job in mind, these pages open with the plan already set for it: compress to 200 KB · 100 KB · 50 KB · 1 MB · compress JPEG · compress PNG · compress WebP · PNG to AVIF · for email · a whole folder at once.
